Bachelor of Arts in Music
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music degree is a general music degree intended for students desiring a broad study of music with the flexibility to take elective coursework in other disciplines. This degree program includes private applied study in bassoon, ensemble performance, and coursework in music history and music theory.
The B.A. in Music degree is designed to be an ideal choice for students continuing their study of music at a high level while also completing a second major or a minor in a discipline other than Music.
Bachelor of Music
The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree requires 120 to 125 credits (45 at the Jr/Sr 300+ level) and is designed to further the student’s knowledge, practice and experience in one of the following areas of study:
Performance
Musicology - study of the history of music
Music Composition
Music Theory
Music Therapy
Bachelor of Music Education
The Bachelor of Music Education (BME) is a comprehensive undergraduate degree program, preparing pre-service music educators in choral, general music, band, and orchestra to assume PreK-12 music teaching positions in state, national, and international programs. Students completing the 4-year BME degree also work to satisfy the requisites for the Kansas PreK-12 Teaching Licensure.
Minor in Music
The music minor is an excellent opportunity to supplement your major field with a broad view of music. The minor requires 24 credit hours of applied lessons, performance, and academic courses.
